The Santa Wars are coming to the big screen.
Variety reports that writer Scott White has been retained by Paramount Pictures to create a screen play based upon a National Public Radio segment about the real-life Santa Wars started at AORBs in 2006.
The film will be a comedy. White will team with producer Scott Rudin, a partnership that has already produced “School of Rock” and “Orange County”.
We have not yet learned who from within the Santa community is consulting on the project but you can bet there will be plenty who either take credit or will seek it.
A sad and pathetic episode in the history of Santa Claus is about to go to whole new level. Lost in the shuffle of publicity, hype and anticipation of another Christmas comedy will be another slap to the honor, dignity and respect of the sacred character of St. Nicholas – thanks to a select few whose shameful behavior makes a mockery of the man they get paid, in many instances, to portray.
